Hosted by Phil & Cindy Newman, the last weekend of August was spent by a few hearty Sitzmarkers up at Angel Fire’s luxury RV resort, a beautiful location with full-hookup sites, cabins for those who are RV-less, mountain views, pickleball courts, horseshoes, ping pong, corn-hole, hiking, golf, fly-fishing, biking, chairlift rides, chuckwagon dinner shows, and other fun stuff just minutes from Angel Fire ski area.

On the drive up, it was a “must” to stop at the famous Gabriel’s of Santa Fe for a delicious New Mexican lunch. If you've never experience Gabriel's, it's a must!

Our first night, Phil grilled chicken and we enjoyed everyone’s favorite potluck sides at Phil & Cindy’s ginormous “Coach”. The next day, we learned to play pickleball, which was so easy if you’ve ever played tennis. For dinner, we drove over Bobcat pass to Red River to eat at the famed and delicious Texas Reds Steakhouse, while listening to live music from the bar. Turns out they're celebrating their 60th too! Next day, we rented eBikes and rode to Monte Verde Lake for a delightful picnic, although we had to leave Mike and Linda T behind to treat Mike’s banged up knee and elbow from crashing his eBike during the practice run in the [rough gravel and slanted] parking lot. Luckily, they were able to join us at the lake after a quick stop at the fire station where first responders graciously cleaned and dressed his wounds.

We rode the Chile Express to the top of the ski area for yet another fabulous picnic lunch, followed by a short but sweet hike under the lift. Some chairs were equipped with a bike rack for eBikes and mountain bikes, a very big deal up there. Check out the pictures – the Chile Express is the second longest ski lift in the US (by 20 feet).

The weather cooperated all weekend with sunshine and cool breezes. On Monday, it rained hard all day, so we played card games in the resort’s beautiful and spacious Lodge.

Mike & Linda checked out the huge hot tub under the mountain stars every night but the last night, when it continued its rainy day and night, much needed in the mountains of northern NM.

On the last night, we drove over to the Angel Fire country club for a nice dinner, checked out on Tuesday, and after breakfast at the local bakery, we made our way back to Albuquerque, only to leave Phil and Cindy up there to host their next RV rally and more adventures.

There was a Dave Bergstein sighting, but he headed west to Taos and was never seen again.

…And it's unanimous. We decided such a good time was had by all, we wanna share this beautiful place and fun times with more Sitzmarkers, so we’re gonna make it an annual event. Mark your calendars for the same time next year, same place, and we’ll put it together!
