July 2026 Prez Sez

We had two very successful club events in July. On July 4th we had our annual 4th of July cookout at the home of one of our members. We had 46 members attend, including 10 new members (5 brand new and 5 former members rejoining). Take a look at the pictures at the 4th of July Cookout post on our social gallery page.
The second event was the July SNO at Santa Fe Brewery to watch The Turner and Grimes Trio, featuring our very own Michael Grimes! We had a good turnout. The music was wonderful and the visiting with fellow Siztzmarkers, both old and new, was fun. Visit our social gallery to view pictures of the event (including a short video).
Our next social event is the RV/Camping event at the Angel Fire Resort. There is still time to make a reservation at the resort, and to let our trip sponsor, Phil Newman, know you are coming. Check out the event at RV/Camping at Angel Fire Resort on our events page.
We have set dates for ski trips this coming season. Current proposed dates include Wolf Creek – January 8-10, Monarch – February 4-7, and Wolf Creek – March 5-7. We also hope to plan several day trips to Santa Fe, perhaps as often as one weekday and one weekend per month. These may be regularly scheduled dates such as the first Friday and third Sunday of each month. We will continue to let everyone know as we confirm these dates and plans. Keep checking our ski events page for further details.
The planning for our 60th Celebration is continuing with exciting things planned for the event. Visit our website for event details. The celebration will include a slideshow of photos from the past 60 years, raffles featuring items donated by members and partner companies and organizations, and a keynote speaker, Michael Donovan, manager of the Tram. From 7 to 9, Sitzmarker member Michael Grimes will provide our music venue with the Turner & Grimes Trio who will perform acoustic rock, pop, and folk covers from the 60s through the 90s.
I want to continue to encourage our members to visit our website and our Facebook page to stay informed about what is going on. Don’t forget to login when on the website so you can view any items that are posted for members only.

We had another successful Isotopes Tailgate & Game SNO last week, with about 30 people, who enjoyed tailgating and the ball game. To top it off, the Isotopes won! Be sure to check out the event photos in the social gallery page.
Our next social event is the annual 4th of July cookout at a member’s home. Members should have received an email with event details and RSVP instructions. These events are for members only, so if you’re interested in attending, please consider joining the club.

We had a great time together at the Park Square Market SNO with 25 Sitzmarkers and guests getting to discover this great venue in Uptown Albuquerque. Check out the pictures on our website’s social gallery page – Social Events Gallery – NM Sitzmarkers.
In June we will have our annual Isotopes Tailgate and Game event on Tuesday, June 16th beginning at 5:00 with our tailgate party just south of Isotopes Park in the parking lot next to the UNM Football field. For further details including who to contact for an RSVP see the event on our Public Announcements page – SNO Isotopes Tailgate and Game – NM Sitzmarkers.
Members, keep an eye out for communications regarding details about our July 4th celebration.
In August we have a member who will be hosting a RV/Camping event at the Angel Fire Resort. For more information check out the Public Announcement here – Sitzmarker Event – RV/Camping at Angel Fire Resort – NM Sitzmarkers.
I’m also really excited to announce that the 60th Planning Committee has secured a location and set a time and date for our 60th Anniversary Celebration. It will be on Saturday, November 7th beginning at 5:00pm at The Homestead Cafe which is at the base of the Tram (in the old Santiago’s space). We’ll continue to update everyone as additional planning is announced.
Hope to see a lot of my Sitzmarker friends at these coming events, and I invite anyone interested in joining our club to visit our website to sign-up and join (Join Us – NM Sitzmarkers).

I want to welcome our new board members, Michelle O’Mally (VP) and Mike Cassisa (Marketing & Communications), and thank our outgoing board members, Chris Calder (President) and Russ Goebel (VP), for their service to the club. And I also want to thank the current board members who agreed to stay on for another year, Catherine Maple Cross (Treasurer), Cindy Stanley (Secretary), Julie Dreike (Ski Trips) and Phil Dreike (Membership). We have a very hard-working board of directors, and I am very thankful for them.
At our recent Annual Meeting, we voted our new Board in and heard about the wonderful plans being worked on for the coming year. We will be celebrating our 60th anniversary at a special celebration event this fall! The planning committee has some great ideas for the event, and you will be seeing more about this in the coming months. Our May SNO (Sitzmarkers Night Out) will be a get together at the Park Square Market. In mid-June our SNO event will be our annual Isotopes game including a tail gate gathering before the game. In late August, one of our members will be hosting an RV/cabin event at the Angel Fire Resort. Our Ski Trip director reported that planning is underway for several trips for this next ski season, starting with a trip to Wolf Creek in January and a trip to Monarch in early February. We’ll get additional information posted as these plans are firmed up. Check out the pictures from the Annual Meeting on the Social Events Gallery page.
Another major initiative that we announced was the formation of a temporary committee to develop a long-term Marketing Plan for the club. There was a lot of interest by members to be involved in this effort. I look forward to some great ideas to come out of this committee.
I also want to encourage folks to use our new website and our Facebook page to keep up with our activities and to share your experiences with the club. It’s an exciting time to reflect back on our history and share pictures and stories about the club, and to look forward to our continued adventures together.

Welcom
e.
We are coming to the end of the ski season, hopefully everyone has enjoyed these trips. The lack of snow has not dampened the enthusiasm.
The 60th anniversary of the club is in April, event(s) are being planned for this exciting event. Very few clubs last this long, a testimony to all those who have worked so hard to keep the group going.
“Long live the NM Sitzmarkers Ski and Social Club”.
The Board will be discussing various new ways of getting together on and off the slopes at our next meeting.
The last trip for this year will be to Wolf Creek March 6 to 8 (space may be limited).
